About Us

Cooper Construction Co., Inc. was started in 1996 by our founder and president, Gregory Cooper. When he was 12 years old, he started working in the wood shop where he attended school. By the time he graduated, he had been asked by his teacher to build a cradle for his 1st grandchild. He graduated earning the top award for his school in woodworking, The “Golden Hammer Award”. During his time in high school, he started pulling apart his childhood home, tearing down walls, and rebuilding staircases. This was no easy task as the house was in an old part of Providence, RI, built in the late 1800s. It was at that point he developed his love for historic renovations.

After graduating high school, he started to attend The University of Rhode Island and realized shortly thereafter that he would rather be working with his hands. He did a few odd jobs before settling in full-time at a construction company. Years later, Greg worked full-time for another large construction company and started picking up small side jobs remodeling bathrooms, installing floors, staircases, etc., on the weekends. Eventually,  by 2001, there were way too many side jobs; they weren’t just side jobs anymore. With his wife Trish’s encouragement, he decided to make the leap and try working for himself. It was a good move.

Today we are still doing smaller jobs, but we now work on much bigger jobs. With a crew that has many years of experience, there is no job Cooper Construction Co., Inc. can’t handle.
